There’s something hilarious about us basically being halfway through 2026 and here I am writing about the books I read in 2024. When I first started this blog, I totally meant to be more active with this serving as a space for me to dump my unfiltered thoughts. Then, slowly but surely, that nagging feeling of Not Being Good Enough™ took over and I’ve been delaying writing on here. There’s also that fear of folks I don’t want reading my shit to stumble across this because even though the world is big, it just ain’t that big sometimes. Either way, I’m paying for my site / hosting and I don’t want to lose it either so here I am dipping my toe into these waters again.
I read 58 books in 2024! I lowered my goal to a more realistic number (aka 52) so I was pleasantly surprised that I got past that.

In the Weeds was a nice lil romance novel.
Thicker than Water was a waste of my time, but I felt bad rating it anything lower than 3 stars. Probably should’ve had waaayyyy lower expectations.
Maybe in Another Life – overall the message was sweet BUT IF I HAVE TO HEAR ONE MORE WORD ON CINNAMON ROLLS (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻ i just couldn’t get over that annoyance lol
Stay True – lyrical, but heavy. reminds you to appreciate folks en vida and def immerses you into Hua’s grief.
I read Hidden Potential because Cata wanted to attend his talk and I wanted to know about what I was gonna be hearing about. Solid read.
The Magpie Funeral – lorddd when will I learn that sometimes books just won’t be it for me.
Redwood Court – writing was beautiful.
Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing – all i can say is RIP Matthew Perry.

Firekeeper’s Daughter was beautiful; highly recommend!
Faltas: Letters to Everyone in My Hometown Who Isn’t My Rapist held so much pain and trauma and I really just wanted to give Gentili the biggest hug.
The Takeover – will I ever DNF a book I feel so MEH about? probably not.
Pacific Power & Light – hot garbage, but it’s poetry so maybe it’s relative?
Our Fight: A Memoir – a solid read and look behind the curtain of Rousey’s career. Would recommend if you like MMA or WWE
Anita de Monte Laughs Last – I was so intrigued by the plot and thought it was great. Then I realized that it’s based off a real story and that bugged tf out of me lol
Antkind – hot mess express, but lowkey will hold a fond spot in my lil heart because of how chaotic it was lol

Under the Whispering Door – TJ Klune does it again! Always writes solid enough books that I highly enjoy but not enough for a 5-star read just yet
Rangikura – poetryyy
When Grumpy Met Sunshine & Till There Was You – I guess it was a theme to read mid romance
woke up no light – probably my favorite read of 2024! poetry tho so go at your own risk lol
Bang was so fucked up lol
Late Bloomer – a presh lil romance novel AND QUEER
Alligator Candy – based off a true story; wasn’t my favorite read but maybe it wasn’t meant to be
Savor it – a Netgalley read that i didn’t completely hate lol

The Tainted Cup – ok fantasy lol would def recommend (as someone who basically never reads any of this)
Real Men Knit – presh romance novel 30/10 recommend
Wandering Stars – Tommy Orange is a gem of a writer
The Band – no. just please no more was what i kept saying because it felt like the story would never end lol
Swans of Harlem (!!) – highly recommend!
Just Some Stupid Love Story was indeed a stupid love story. Molly (FMC) was emotionally stunted and Seth (MMC) was pathetic and pitiful.
The Fine Print was steamy lol
Salt Houses – read this one with Arantxa!
Real Americans – a 5-star rarity in 2024
Terms and Conditions – Asher’s fall from grace lol aka couldn’t release 2 bangers back to back but that’s just the luck of the draw I guess

The Magnolia Inn – I fell for a facebook ad lmao and I bought a bundle of her books. It’s prob pretty telling that this 1/2 books I read even though I have like 13 of her books now hahaha
Martyr! SO Much better than i thought it would be!! thank you netgalley for this hidden gem!!!
The Rom-commers – I don’t know why I think I like Katherine Center’s books and then I read them and I’m like huh I’m either a hater or this wasn’t it lol
Kilt Trip – meh
Play Nice – Overly edited bullshit tbh
Jacked – an interesting read if nothing else
Assistant to the Villain – not sure why I only rated it 3 stars, but it was enough for me to get into the series lol
Everyone in my Family Has Killed Someone – such a good fun read.

November was a month of BANGERSS except for A Magnolia Homecoming lolol highly recommend The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store since I feel like that one is the most touching of these.
The Volcano Daughters – I was trying to diversify the Latinidad that I read about and it didn’t miss.
The Seventh Veil of Salome – so beautifully written; Silvia Moreno-Garcia keeps great books coming (!)
Bright Young Women – a take on a serial killer’s murders; if true crime isn’t your thing, don’t read this one
The Honeymoon Crashers – only an audiobook but had to mention it because this was the year I found out that Christina Lauren is a DUO not just one person haha

2024 wasn’t great with my romance selections haha but onward and upward, as they say.
